Ski areas are demanding environments. Temperatures and freeze-thaw cycles require durable paving which can be snow plowed and that can withstand harsh snow melt chemicals. Porphyry provides a slip resistant texture. Because it is a type of granite, it does not react wto salts and snow melting chemicals.
